INTRODUCING THE BELLES

We are four damsels who fell in love with Morris dancing.

We met at Cecil Sharp House, the home of the English Folk Dance and Song Society and were taught to dance Cotswold jigs by John Russell, a Gentleman of the Beaux of London City Morris Men.

Our debut dance was on St. George's Day 2009 at Leadenhall Market.

Since that merry day Fortune has offered us many opportunities to make fond friends, dance with vigour and wear remarkable corsets.

Our past-times include drinking at ale houses and singing bawdy songs.

The Belles are: Ellen Hobson, Alex Merry, Deborah Chalmers and Michelle Griffiths

Our Fool is: Terry the Raspberry Fool

Our current musicians include: Deborah Chalmers (fiddle), Nick Hart (concertina/melodion), Dan Mayfield (fiddle), Nick Goode (fiddle), Jeremy Monson (accordion, saxophone)
