INTRODUCING THE BELLES
We are three damsels who fell in love with Morris dancing.
We met at Cecil Sharp House, the home of the English Folk Dance and Song Society and were taught to dance Cotswold jigs by John Russell, a Gentleman of the Beaux of London City Morris Men.
Our debut dance was on St. George's Day 2009 at Leadenhall Market.
Since that merry day Fortune has offered us many opportunities to make fond friends, dance with vigour and wear remarkable corsets.
Our past-times include drinking at ale houses and singing bawdy songs.
The Belles are: Ellen Hobson, Alex Merry and Michelle Bloom
Our Fool is: Terry the Raspberry Fool
Our current musicians include: Deborah Chalmers (fiddle), Jon D (accordion), Jerry Bloom (fiddle), Nick Goode (fiddle), Paul Sartin (fiddle), Will Hughes (cajon), Dave Aylward (bass drum), Mark Simms (bass drum), Joe Buirski (bass drum), Jeremy Monson (accordion, saxophone)
We also are proud to occasionally collaborate with Mat Cowan the Bellman.
